Crafter’s Closet Multipurpose Artist Pad
Crafter’s Closet Sparkling Gem Strips
Baked with Love Food Coloring Gel, Bright
Crafter’s Closet Precision Scissors
Crafter’s Closet Permanent Tape Runner
Let's Do This!
Prepare the cans by removing any labels and wiping them clean.
Fill a shallow 9x13 inch dish with shaving cream. Note: Use shaving cream, not shaving gel.
Squeeze about 9 – 12 drops of food coloring onto the shaving cream.
Use a butter knife to swirl the food coloring around on the shaving cream. Keep the surface of the shaving cream level as you swirl.
Lay a piece of paper onto the shaving cream and gently press it evenly across the surface.
Lift the paper out of the shaving cream.
Lay the paper on a protected surface and use a ruler to scrape the residual shaving cream off the paper.
Level the shaving cream with the butter knife and swirl the coloring. Repeat the printing process to make as many papers as needed.
Hold the paper up to the can and mark the height needed.
Cut the paper and wrap it around the can. Do this for each can. Use double-sided tape to secure the paper around the cans.
Cut down the side of an empty soft drink can.
Cut off the top and bottom of the soft drink can and recycle them. Note: The edges of the soft drink can be very sharp. Be careful when handling it.
Trace the bottom of the shaving cream can onto the cut soft drink can to make 4 circles.
Cut them out.
Adhere a strip of gems around the unprinted side of a metal circle and cut the gem strip to fit. Repeat on 2 additional circles. You will need 3 gem circles for the front of the cans and reserve one for an optional lid.
Use double-sided tape to adhere the circular metal label to the front of the can.
Step 8: Optional Lid
Use double-sided tape to adhere the last metal soft drink circle to the top of your lid.
Hold the paper up to the lid and mark the height needed.
Cut the paper.
Use double-sided tape to secure the paper around the lid.
