The holidays are a magical time. But anyone who’s tried to juggle gift-buying, baking, cooking and hosting knows the holidays can be a little bit stressful, too. Add in the extra cleaning we’re all doing this year and your holiday plate is full. So give yourself a gift this year by doing some prep ahead of time. We’ve got 4 tips to help take the strain out of the season.
Masks and sanitizer go together like peas and carrots. Be sure to have plenty of both on hand for you and for your guests. Grab a few extra bottles of sanitizer, so you can place them strategically by the front and back doors where people are coming and going. And grab some extra masks, too, in case anyone forgets theirs. DG has holiday-themed face masks so you can keep things nice and Santa-tary.
There’s nothing like having people over to make you realize where all the cobwebs are. Take a look around with fresh eyes and give any neglected areas a little love. Wipe down baseboards and blinds. Give every room a good vacuum. And make sure the bathrooms are sanitized and stocked with clean towels that have that fresh True Living Laundry smell.
We’ve got a whole our How to Get Laundry Done like a Pro article with a list of pro laundry tips to get you started. Check out our Cleaning Checklist with Easy Tips for more ideas on deep cleaning. Once everything is scrubbed and spotless, it’s time for the fun part: decorating. If there was ever a year to go all out, this is it. Make your home jolly and joyful inside and out with lights, yard decorations, wreaths, garlands, wall signs and more. No matter your style, DG has everything you need to make your place merry and bright.
These days, we’re all washing our hands like it’s our job, so make sure you’ve got plenty of hand towels for company. For your overnight guests, set out towel sets and stock up on toilet paper. And for an extra thoughtful touch, whip up a few guest giftbags with the stuff we all forget to pack like travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, soap and a toothbrush. Bottled water is a great addition to these bags as well. But don’t stop there. Make your entire home fresh and welcoming with scents of the season and festive scented candles. And don’t forget to welcome guests in with a dish of your favorite holiday candy by the front door. We won’t tell anybody if you sneak a piece or two.
You can definitely stand the heat, but that doesn’t mean you want to spend all your time in the kitchen. Take a minute to plan a few easy, crowd-pleasing meals ahead of time. Chilis, soups and stews are easy to prepare, easy to serve and everybody loves them.
