Wood Bead Corn: What You Will Need

What You'll Need:

Let's Do This!

Step 1:

A)    Make a 1:1 solution of water and glossy deco podge.

B)    Mix well.

Step 2:

A)    Use paint straight from the bottles, or create your own paint colors! Note: We mixed custom colors for this craft. Pour the deco podge/water mixture into each color.

B)    Mix the deco podge/water mixture with the paint until it is well incorporated.

C)   Repeat this process for all the paint colors.

Step 3:

A)    Place the wood beads on bamboo skewers for easier paint application. You’ll need about 80 small wood beads divided among your paint color choices.

B)    Brush the paint mixture over the wood beads.

C)   Continue painting until the beads are coated. Let dry.

D)   Repeat this process for all of your paint colors. Tip: Remove the dry wood beads from the bamboo skewers and put them in cups or small containers.

Step 4:

A)    Cut four 20" lengths of wire.

B)    Twist the four wires together at the center.

Step 5:

A)    Fold the wires into a V shape, bending them at the center. String the wood beads on the wires, mixing the colors as you go.

B)    Each wire should have ten beads.

C)   Pull the ends of the wires together and twist them to create the corn shape.

D)   Bend the wires down towards the corn.

Step 6:

A)    Hot glue corn husks around the corn, leaving the front exposed to show the beads.

B)    Roll a piece of corn husk and hot glue it to the bottom of the corn cob to make a stem.
