Winter Pet Activities: Snow Much Fun for You and Your Pet

With these activities, you can still stay active with your pet through the coldest months of the year.

Bring the outside in! Place pots filled with catnip and cat grass inside your house for your cat to enjoy. Bring in a dry log too. It may give your cat a more natural surface for scratching.

Create an obstacle course: Hide a treat, or your pet's favorite toy, in a cardboard box with holes and create an obstacle course for your pet to go through to find the treat.

Escape once in a while: Although the winter weather may keep you inside most days, take advantage of the warmer days and get outside for a few minutes. With the right winter gear, pets can enjoy playing in the snow or just taking in some fresh cool air.

Play blanket games: Winter is a great time to toss blankets over your pet and see if they enjoy the challenge of finding their way out. Some pets also enjoy it when their owners hide under a blanket and call for them. A little game of blanket hide-and-seek can be fun for both cats and dogs.

Snow much fun in the wintertime! For smaller and younger pets, consider bringing in a big bowl of snow and hiding a treat in the snow. Let your pet dig for the treat, and play in the snow without getting too cold.

Adventure awaits! One of the best winter pet activities is taking your dog along for a sled ride. Many dogs love to chase a sled down the hill. Just be sure not to stay outside too long or allow your pet to get too wet.
