Easter Bunny Canvas

Level of difficulty:  Beginner

A reverse canvas technique is used to craft these adorable framed bunnies. A few simple steps are all that is needed to create this beautiful spring home decor!

What You'll Need:

  • Crafter’s Closet Stretched Canvas 8" x 10” 
  • Crafter’s Closet Craft Wood Stain Walnut
  • Crafter’s Closet Black Chalkboard Craft Paint
  • Crafter’s Closet Deco Podge Matte
  • Crafter’s Closet Premium Paint Brush
  • Crafter’s Closet Project Knife
  • Crafter’s Closet Precision Scissors
  • Crafter’s Closet Hot Glue Gun
  • Crafter’s Closet Hot Glue Sticks
  • Cotton Balls
  • Hammer
  • Bunny Template 

Let's Do This!

 

Step 1:

  1. Use a project knife to cut the canvases loose from the staples on the wood frames.
  2. Use a hammer to flatten the staples flush with the wood frames. This will be the back of the craft.

 

Step 2:

  1. Stain the frames. Let dry.
  2. Paint one canvas with black chalkboard paint. Let dry.

 

Step 3:

  1. Run a line of hot glue around the back of the wood frame.
  2. Lay the wood frame onto the canvas and push down to flatten the hot glue onto the canvas.
  3. Use a project knife to cut around the frame and remove the excess canvas.
  4. You will have one white-framed canvas and one black-framed canvas.  

 

Step 4:

  1. Print the template and cut out the bunny shapes.
  2. Apply deco podge to the backs of the bunny shapes.
  3. Press the bunny shapes onto the canvases. Let dry. 
  4. Use hot glue to add a cotton ball bunny tail on each bunny.
