ITEM AVAILABILITY

Item Availability

The availability of an item is clearly noted on the Product Detail page as in Stock" or 'Backorder.' Most items are In Stock and ready to ship. Some items are temporarily out-of-stock (Backorder). For more information, please read the details below.
Please note: expected shipment times specify when an stem is expected to leave our warehouse, not when the item will arrive at its final shipping destination. After your order leaves our warehouse, delivery times vary according to the shipping method you select during checkout and the location of your shipping address.
You will not be billed for items purchased with a credit card until the items have shipped. You may be billed for items purchased with a debit or bank card immediately upon order confirmation.

In-Stock Items

Most orders for In-Stock items begin shipping as soon as your online purchase is completed. Items are shipped once they are located in stock, your payment is approved, and the receiving address is verified. For example, if you order an In-Stock item on Monday that leaves the warehouse in 1-2 full business days, it will leave the warehouse no later than Wednesday. After your order leaves our warehouse, delivery times vary according to the shipping method you select during checkout and the location of your shipping address. Please note that business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.

Advanced Sale Items

Advanced Sale items are items that are not in stock but available for advanced purchase on our site. Advanced Sale items are shipped directly once they arrive in stock. You will be notified of the status of your Advanced Sale item via email. Expected shipment time (for example, 'Advanced Sale: Buy now for shipping in 4-6 weeks') is indicated on the Product Detail page.

Backorder Items

Backorder items are items that are temporarily out of stock but available for purchase on our site. A Backorder item that you may order is shipped directly to you once it is back in stock. You will be notified of the status of your item via e-mail. Expected shipment time (for example, 'Backorder: Buy now for shipping in 4-6 weeks') is indicated on the product detail page.

SHIPPING METHODS AND COSTS

Depending on the item(s) you purchase on www.dollargeneral.com and the location to which the items will be delivered, different shipping methods are available. At checkout, you will be prompted to choose a shipping method for your item(s). Shipping costs are based on the shipping method of choice and the weight of the total order. Your total shipping charges will automatically compute during checkout prior to the completion of your order.

Generally, you will have the option to upgrade your shipping method for faster delivery (such as Second Day or Overnight service). If you choose to upgrade your shipping method, your order must be received and clear credit authorization by 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST or your order may not be processed until the following business day. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.

48 Contiguous United States

Standard Ground, normally 3-8 business days

Most items may be shipped to the 48 contiguous United States via Standard Ground service. You can expect your order to arrive within 3-8 full business days. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.

Second Day, normally 2-3 business days

Most items may be shipped to the 48 contiguous United States via Second Day service. You can expect your order to arrive within 2-3 full business days. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.

Overnight, normally 1-2 business days

Most items may be shipped to the 48 contiguous United States via Overnight service. You can expect your order to arrive within 1-2 full business days. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.

Alaska or Hawaii

Second Day, normally 2-3 business days

Most items may be shipped to Alaska or Hawaii via Second Day service. You can expect your order to arrive within 2-3 full business days. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.

P.O. Boxes

USPS Priority Delivery, normally 3-8 business days

Most items may be shipped via USPS Priority Service, but some restrictions apply. You can expect delivery within 3-8 full business days. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.

Military APO / FPO Addresses

SHIPPING TO MULTIPLE ADDRESSES

www.dollargeneral.com is pleased to offer shipping to multiple addresses. This feature allows you to send items in your Shopping Cart, from one order, to more than one shipping address. Simply follow the prompts to enter each address in your Address Book during Checkout and select the destination for each item.

TRACKING YOUR ORDER

When can you track your order?

At our warehouse, tracking numbers are assigned, when applicable, to packages immediately and generally appear on our website along with your order information. However, it may take up to 48 hours before the package is checked into the carrier's tracking system. Even though your package has already shipped from our warehouse and is on its way to you, the carrier may not be able to provide any information about your package for up to 48 hours.

Orders placed on www.dollargeneral.com may be delivered by one of several different carriers and shipping methods. Tracking availability may vary depending on the type of item you purchased, the shipping method you selected during Checkout, and the carrier that is delivering your item(s).

Occasionally, orders are delivered via a carrier that does not offer the ability to track a package. In these rare instances, your Order History on www.dollargeneral.com will not offer tracking information but will still offer order status and other details. To learn the difference between tracking information and order status, please read the information provided below.

Finding Your Order Status

The status of your order is easy to find.

  • Check your e-mail. You are required to enter an e-mail address during Checkout, so that you may receive e-mails regarding the status of your order.
  • Visit the website. You may sign in at www.dollargeneral.com for your Order History at any time. Information about your open orders, tracking, and past orders is available.
  • Contact us. If you still have questions about your order, please contact us via e-mail.

How is order status different from tracking information?

The status of your order is supplied by www.dollargeneral.com. It represents the progress of your order between the time it is placed and the time it ships from our warehouse. Once your order leaves our warehouse, it is handled by a carrier (such as FedEx, USPS or UPS) that may provide tracking information until your order is delivered*. The tracking information is accessible from your Order History on our website when it becomes available.

*Tracking information may not be available for up to 48 hours after an item is shipped from our warehouse.
