    Holiday Dinner-Table Decor

    Centerpiece

Fill clear glass vases with a variety of small fruits and vegetables in seasonal colors — shades of orange, yellow and red accented with green bay or lemon leaves. Mini pumpkins, gourds, squash, peppers, pears and kumquats are perfect choices.

Build an assortment of fruits and vegetables in vases of any shape. Tuck in a couple of bay leaves as accents.

For a layered effect, place halved and whole kumquats in a vase or hurricane, then nestle a votive inside.

    Napkins

Napkin pockets are a unique way to hold silverware. To begin, fold pressed napkins in half, then in half again to create a square. (These are best created with 18- to 22-inch square napkins.)

With the open corner at the top, fold the to player to the opposite corner, forming a triangle. Flip the napkin over.

Fold the left and right sides in to the center (sides will overlap slightly). Turn the napkin back over and fill with silverware.

    Place cards

Forks can hold more than food — use their tines for place cards! All it takes is some colored paper and scissors. Cut leaf tags free-form.

Cut leaf shapes from colored paper of any weight. Write names toward the top of the leaves so the tines don’t cover the letters.

Position the bottom edge of a leaf between the tines of a fork. Slip the fork into the napkin pocket along with other silverware.
