Mason Jar String Art

Level of difficulty:  Intermediate

This springy decor is easy to make and will brighten up any room.

What You'll Need:

  • Crafter's Closet Precision Scissors
  • Crafter's Closet Paint Mixing Palette
  • Crafter's Closet Premium Paint Brushes
  • Crafter's Closet Jute
  • Crafter's Closet White Craft Paint
  • Crafter's Closet Black Craft Paint
  • Bamboo Cutting Board with handle
  • Hammer
  • Hardware Nails
  • Colorful Silk Flowers

Let's Do This!

 

Step 1:

  1. Water down the white paint with water and brush on a light wash. Let dry.

 

Step 2:

  1. Center the mason jar template on the cutting board and begin to hammer a nail over each red dot.
  2. Continue until are all covered.
  3. Carefully remove the paper template making sure to not pull out any nails.

 

Step 3:

  1. Tie a knot in the jute around one of the bottom nails.
  2. Begin to outline the mason jar following the nails.
  3. When the entire jar is outlined and no nail is left bare, tie a knot in the jute making sure to pass the first knot.

 

Step 4:

  1. Water down a bit of the blue paint to create a light wash and add a brush stroke down the left side of the jar. This will help imitate a classic mason jar look!

 

Step 5:

  1. Wrap twine through the open handle of the cutting board and tie a knot to secure. Leave some excess in the middle to create a way to hang your string art. Wrap the jute on the other end and tie to secure.

 

Step 6:

  1. Fill and arrange with colorful silk flowers to match any room décor!
