Wood Key Holder Craft

Level of difficulty:  Beginner

This unique key holder is made from a mini wood pallet and decorated with map letters that you can personalize! Keep all of your keys handy so that the next time you want to head out, you can simply ask, "Where to next?"

What You'll Need:

  • Crafter’s Closet Wood Pallet 8" x 8"
  • Crafter’s Closet Craft Wood Stain Driftwood
  • Crafter’s Closet Unfinished Wooden Letters
  • Hooks
  • Crafter’s Closet Premium Paint Brush
  • Crafter’s Closet Project Knife
  • Crafter’s Closet Permanent Tape Runner
  • Crafter’s Closet Hot Glue Gun
  • Crafter’s Closet Hot Glue Sticks
  • Hammer
  • Small Screwdriver
  • Template

Let's Do This!

 

Step 1:

  1. Use a screwdriver to remove the easel from the back of the pallet.
  2. Stain the pallet. Let dry.

 

Step 2:

  1. Print out the map template and lay it face down on your work surface.
  2. Apply double-sided tape to the front of the wood letters and press them onto the back of the template. Note: The words will appear backwards for this step.
  3. Working on the back of the template, use a project knife to cut out the wood letters. Tip: Use sandpaper to smooth cut edges, if desired.
  4. Hot glue the letters to the pallet, as shown.

 

Step 3:

  1. Attach the hooks across the bottom of the pallet with a hammer. Tip: Turn the pallet over and tap down any nails that may be sticking out.
