Level of difficulty:  Beginner

Super cute and easy to make, this craft adds a rustic touch to your home décor. The vase is a recycled juice bottle, so you’re helping the environment while getting your craft on!

What You'll Need:

  • Crafter’s Closet Rustic Pallet Sign
  • Juice Bottle 15 ounce
  • Crafter’s Closet Jute
  • Crafter’s Closet Macramé Cord
  • Crafter’s Closet White Acrylic Paint
  • Crafter’s Closet Hot Glue Gun
  • Crafter’s Closet Hot Glue Sticks
  • Crafter’s Closet Permanent Tape Runner
  • Crafter’s Closet Precision Scissors
  • Crafter’s Closet Paint Brush Premium
  • Crafter’s Closet Clasp Pliers
  • Water

Let's Do This!

Step 1:

  1. Remove the rope hanger with needle-nose pliers. Discard the rope. Leave the plastic hanger from the packaging intact.
  2. Thin the white paint with water. Note: We used one teaspoon of white paint and one teaspoon of water. Brush a light coating of the thinned paint over the board. Let dry.

Step 2:

  1. Run a strip of double-sided tape down the back of the bottle, leaving an inch at the top and bottom clear of tape.
  2. Press the end of the jute onto the bottom of the tape to secure it in place.
  3. Begin wrapping the jute around the bottle. Keep the jute pulled tight as you wrap and keep the rows of jute close together.
  4. Use the whole package of jute to wrap the bottle. End by securing the jute to the edge of the tape at the top of the bottle. Save the jute packaging.

Step 3:

  1. Put a dab of hot glue on the front center of the bottle to secure the end of the macramé cord.
  2. Wrap the macramé cord around the bottle six times. Trim and then hot glue end in place.

Step 4:

  1. Cut a circle from the jute packaging that’s about 1 ½" across.
  2. Cover one side of the circle with double-sided tape.

Step 5:

  1. Cut a bunch of 2 ½” pieces of macramé cord.
  2. Fold a 2 ½" piece of macramé cord into a ‘U’ shape and adhere it to the taped side of the circle. Have the ends hang off the edge of the circle at least a half an inch. Keep working your way around the circle, placing more folded lengths of macramé cord until the edge is fully covered.

Step 6:

  1. Untwist the ends of the macramé cord that are hanging off the edge so that they are frayed.
  2. Flip the circle around to the back so you can see the cardboard edge. Trim the frayed macrame cord around the whole circle so the ends are even. The trimmed edge should be about a half an inch from the edge of the cardboard.
  3. Use hot glue to adhere a spiral of macramé cord to the circle. Start in the center and run the spiral to the edge of the cardboard. Trim and hot glue the end in place.
  4. Hot glue the frayed macramé accent to the front of the bottle on top of the macramé cord that is wrapped around the bottle.

Step 7:

  1. Hot glue the bottle to the bottom of the board.
