What You'll Need:

Let's Do This!

Step 1:

  1. Remove string from back of the pallet plank with pliers. Leave the plastic display hook.
  2. Apply red watercolor paint to the pallet plank. Let dry.
  3. Dry brush the edges of the plank with black acrylic paint. Apply paint starting from the edge and pulling into the middle of the plank. Wipe away any excess paint with a paper towel.

Step 2:

  1. Download and print the flame template located at the bottom of the “What You’ll Need” supply list.
  2. Adhere the flame template to cardstock with tape runner.
  3. Cut out template with project knife. This creates sturdy stencils of both flame designs.

Step 3:

  1. Place the large flame stencil onto the upper part of the plank. For perfect placement, apply the bottom of flame stencil 5 ¼" from the top of the plank. Use sponge to dab yellow paint into stencil. Let dry.
  2. Place the small flame stencil onto the upper part of the plank, inside of the yellow base flame. Use sponge to dab orange paint into stencil. Let dry.

Step 4:

  1. Paint the wood letters that spell out “BBQ Boss” using the silver paint pen. Let dry.
  2. Dry brush black acrylic paint around the edges of the letters. Don’t be afraid to be messy! Extra black paint can be rubbed off with a paper towel. Let dry.
  3. Hot glue letters onto plank, positioning them starting at the base of the flame. Allow the “BBQ” lettering to slightly overlap the painted flame.

Step 5:

  1. Paint the three hooks using the silver paint pen. Let dry.
  2. Dab a paper towel with black acrylic paint. Rub the paper towel with paint all over the front of the hooks. Do not let dry. Immediately wipe excess black paint off the hooks to give it a weathered look. Repeat for the other two hooks. Let dry.
  3. Hot glue the hooks onto the plank. Place one hook under the “B”, another under the last “S”, and the third centered between the two hooks, but lower down towards the bottom edge of the plank.
